Returning to a previous client, our objective was to add a functional Pod Room over the first-floor rear addition of their Battersea home. The property already featured a loft conversion, with access via a staircase from the first floor. Given the typical Victorian and Edwardian terrace layout in this area, we were able to utilise the half landing on the way up to the loft, making an efficient connection to the new space. The design needed to maximise natural light while maintaining the architectural integrity of the home.

The project took advantage of the property's existing structure, integrating the new Pod Room in a way that felt seamless with the original layout. By positioning the entrance off the half landing, we ensured that circulation remained efficient without compromising the flow of the existing loft space.
Large windows at the rear and a strategically placed roof-light were introduced to create a bright, airy atmosphere within the new addition. The room was designed with clean, contemporary detailing to contrast yet complement the home’s period features, offering a modern retreat within the traditional framework of a Battersea terrace.
