Transforming this period south-London home into a sophisticated and refined space.
The homeowner wanted to extend and refurbish the home to create a calming space, which adopted a refined and mature energy. The challenge was to maximise space, enhance natural light within the home and to retain the period feel to the property by restoring features and using colour palettes to bring the character to life.
THE APPROACH
An extension and layout configuration paired with refined and tasteful design to unlock the home’s potential.
The design approach centred around combining old and new. Balancing the mix of the modern feel to the extension with its large sliding doors coupled with the period character of the existing home was key to getting this project right.
The downstairs of the property, alongside the extension, saw a comprehensive refurbishment with the living room stealing the show. Neutral tones in washed walls and panelling complimented with rich darker accents of furnishings and artwork exude the sophistication and grandeur reminiscent of the period age of the home. The hallway and restored staircase continue the neutral feel opening up the space and allowing seamless room to room transition.
Upstairs the balance of modernity and character are met again. Bedrooms feel spacious and open with the continued neutral palette, with a sense of classic timelessness shown through materials, joinery and patterns.
