The brief for this London period property was to transform it into a contemporary, functional space without losing original charm. The focus was on enhancing natural light, optimising the internal layout, and integrating high-quality, bespoke materials to create a warm but sleek feel.
THE APPROACH

Every design decision was made with a sensitivity to the home’s original character while introducing modern elements that elevate its function and aesthetic.
A rear extension was added to create a spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area, featuring large glazed openings to connect the interior with the garden. The reconfiguration of the internal layout improved spatial flow, allowing for more natural light and better usability. Bespoke joinery, high-spec finishes, and carefully restored period details ensured that the new additions felt harmonious with the existing structure.
Throughout the home, a curated material palette of timber, stone, and metal was used to create warmth and contrast. Floor-to-ceiling glazing and skylights were strategically placed to enhance brightness, while handcrafted details brought a sense of craftsmanship and individuality.
